Masturbation – How much is too much?

masturbation

Before you have sex with other people, you have sex with yourself. This is masturbation. Masturbation is the sexual stimulation of one’s own genitals for sexual arousal or other sexual pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm.

Masturbation through the ages …

All men and women masturbate. Babies start to masturbate at the age of 15 to 19 months of age. When you see toddlers and little kids with their hands inside their diapers, what do you think they are doing?

Well, no one would like to say “oh my little kid is masturbating” but yes, they get the pleasure by touching their genitals. Of course, they don’t have any sexual fantasies at that time.

Frequency of masturbation

As puberty arrives, sexual interest is going to go up and the frequency of masturbation increases and it increases a whole lot. So basically, men tend to learn to masturbate early and tend to do it more than women.

This is a learned behavior. Girls are taught not to do it. I don’t mean boys are encouraged to do it. But if you notice in society, notice how men tend to scratch and grab themselves more often than women.

learned behavior or it’s really itchy there?

Have u noticed men walk around and all of a sudden they grab their pe*** without thinking what the people are thinking about what he is doing. For them its like no big deal.

Contrary to that, Do women go around like grabbing their breasts “oh it’s itchy, let me grab it in public”. They don’t do it because it’s a learned behavior.

Women are not supposed to do such things. For men its ok – grab it, pull it, scratch it, put it back in place, it does not matter.

Adolescents tend to masturbate 3 to 5 times a week.

Married couples also masturbate. Grandma and grandpa also masturbate. The elderly also masturbate.

Your sexual desire, your sexual inclination does not change as we grow older so  If you are very sexually active when you are young, you are gonna be just as sexually active when you are old.

What stops the elderly from being that sexually active. They just don’t have people to have sex with. They don’t have the partner to have sex with.

Is there any such thing as too much masturbation?

now, this is too much!

Is there such a thing as too much masturbation. How much masturbation is normal. A person may never masturbate, may masturbate once a week, once a day or ten times a day. What’s normal for one person may be abnormal for another.

Suppose a person masturbates once a week and suddenly starts masturbating once a day or a person masturbates ten times a day and starts masturbating once a day or once a week, something is wrong.

There is no such thing as a normal frequency or how frequently you do it but if it starts interfering with your daily activities, that’s abnormal.

If you are driving and you have to stop to do it, that’s abnormal. If you are in a class or attending a meeting and you have to take a break to do it, that’s abnormal.

Why people masturbate?

Masturbation relieves sexual tension, enhances sexual satisfaction, reduces stress, induce pleasure and promote rest and relaxation. That’s why some people do masturbation mainly for the purpose of relaxation and relieving stress.

Masturbation does not relieve one’s body of energy or produce premature ejaculation. In the UK in 2009, a leaflet was issued by the National Health Service in Sheffield carrying the slogan, “an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away”

An Orgasm a day keeps the doctor away

The stigma associated with masturbation!

Even though masturbation is commonly practiced by both men and women and is considered as a healthy practice by many health professionals, the stigma on the topic persists.

In 2013, a teenager, Mathew Burdette committed suicide after being filmed by his mother masturbating.

Researchers in 90s found that half of the adult women and men who masturbate feel guilty about it (Laumann, et al., 1994. p.85).

Another study in 2000 found that adolescent young men are still frequently afraid to admit they masturbate (Halpern, et al., 2000, 327)
